Driftwood's brunch drifts into the 'swipe left' category

I'll keep this one brief, very brief.

Over the weekend I visited the beautifully manicured brick, wood, and steel restaurant serving American dishes on H St. NE, Driftwood. Unfortunately, outer beauty does not equate to inner beauty or should I say savory dishes from the kitchen.

I ordered the steak and eggs and a side of waffles. The steak, ordered medium-rare, was a lot closer to well done than to medium-rare. The waffles were rather dense and somewhat cold, cold enough not to melt the butter.

It could be a fluke, yet they say first impressions are hard to overcome.

P.S. So Driftwood? Not so good.

    About

As a little boy I would repeatedly say, "A mí me gusta comer y dormir." "I like to eat and to sleep."

Some things never change. I still love doing both.

D.C. is full of great places to eat, as is the rest of America. As such, I will now write restaurant reviews. (Maybe I secretly want to become the next Anton Ego from the Disney movie Ratatouille... who are we kidding, I'm not mean, that dude is simply a jerk!)

    I digress.

P.S. by Paulo will not be a boring blog critiquing food, I will be pithy but more importantly brief... because who wants to spend a lot of time reading when you can spend it eating.

P.S. stands for postscriptum, Latin for postscript or afterthought, and the two letters also happen to be my initials. (I see what you did there, Paulo!) I will share my "afterthought" whenever I visit a new restaurant in town. Basically, I am now a food critic, but a nice one unlike Anton Ego!

So do this hungry hippo... err man a favor, and let your friends know about it!
